Ever felt mysteriously attracted to a certain crystal or stone and wondered ‘Why am I drawn to some crystals more than others?’ It’s HIGHLY likely that the crystal you’re feeling pulled to represents an energy that you need in your life right now.
There’s a wonderful quote by the Persian poet and scholar, Rumi, that says, “What you seek, is seeking you.” In my experience of working with people and crystals, I’ve observed this to be true time and time again.
When there’s something in your life that feels like it’s missing or something that really needs your focus and attention, then often there’s a special stone that draws you in…almost calling to you, to support you in this work. If you’re seeking to heal or balance some aspect of your life, a helpful crystal companion will often appear at just the right time – showing you the path to transformation and wholeness. These crystals often come into your life to help you create rapid shifts in your well-being.
For example, for the first many years of my crystal journey, I just didn’t seem to connect with Rose Quartz at all. It’s not that I disliked the stone, it just didn’t really capture my attention and I thought it was a little boring. But after my grandmother passed away and I was processing a lot of grief and deeply missing her, I found myself drawn to Rose Quartz like a magnet. There was something so soothing and supportive about its energy and I connected with it in a very deep and meaningful way. I didn’t understand for a few weeks why it had suddenly captured my attention, but then I realized how much I was missing my grandma – her support, compassion, love, and care – and Rose Quartz came to my aid to help comfort and soothe me during a very difficult time.
I often hear from people who have had these experiences and then later feel sad when their crystal “doesn’t feel how it used to” or they feel like they just “don’t connect with the stone the same way.”
Does this sound familiar?
Well, in my experience, that’s because once the stone has done its job and the energy is no longer needed by you in the same way it was before, your connection to the stone (that feeling of being called to or drawn in by its energy) feels different. It may even feel like the connection no longer exists at all.
But don’t worry! This is a GOOD thing.
Feeling like this means most likely means that you’ve transformed and re-aligned the part of you that REALLY needed the supportive energy that the crystal was offering you. Now that you’ve created the needed shift, your crystal is either ready to do its thing all over again or to take a little rest.
I realized after working with Rose Quartz over the course of a few months, that a time came when I just didn’t feel as called to work with it as I had in the past. I was still very much grieving the loss of my grandma, but Rose Quartz had been such a helpful ally that it really helped me work through some of the toughest times. It became clear that I didn’t need that same level of support anymore and it was ok to let go of my connection to my Rose Quartz companions. This didn’t mean that my relationship with these stones was over because I knew I could always return to them if I found myself needing their support again.
So what should you do with your stones once the connection fades?
If you do still feel connected to the stone, even if it wasn’t as strong as when you were going through your big transformation, then you can hang onto it and keep it in your crystal healing toolkit. But if you want to pay it forward and share this energy with another person, you may like to consider giving the crystal as a gift and pass it along to someone else in need.
So, if you find yourself being drawn to a specific crystal – LISTEN! It’s likely for a very good (and deeply meaningful) reason.

I was drawn to my rose quartz dowsing pendulum. I’ve received invaluable information and feel a very strong vibration from it!
That is awesome, Donna! I have a rose quartz pendulum too and it’s the only one I’ve felt a very strong vibration from– our spirits just sense which crystals are right for us! <3

Crystals are all new to me, but I’m learning. As I started on my adventure of choosing my collection, I was quickly drawn to my Blue Lace Agate. I was just mesmerized by its soft blue color and lines running through it. I carry it with me all the time. Always gives off positive vibes and makes me feel like I can’t really describe. But it’s good ?
I am really drawn to Blue Calcite! It seems to have a calming effect, which I desperately need.
I agree – it is such a calming stone! <3 🙂 Crystal Blessings
I had the urge to go to a Crystal Shop when I first started buying Crystals and I was immediately drawn to a Labradorite and to this day it is still my favourite Crystal, which I think with all the beautiful Crystals around is very difficult but Rose Quartz is also so close.
That’s beautiful! It’s amazing to make personal connections like that – but it is hard to choose favorites for sure. <3 I find that mine change often! Crystal Blessings to you 🙂
I have been drawn to clear quartz for my entire life. I remember finding it out in nature as a small child. I remember cleaning cabins at a resort, going through my divorce and being very broken and unhappy one day and I looked down and right in between my feet, was a big chunck of quartz.
That’s beautiful – it sounds like you have a very natural connection to crystals. 🙂 And it seems that Clear Quartz really resonates with your energy, throughout many phases of your life! It is a great crystal for offering clarity and strength. I’m glad it’s found its way to you so many times <3 Crystal Blessings
I was drawn to a heart shaped Labradorite. I was in the store looking for an Oracle deck, when I just turned and walked over to the glass counter straight to the stone. I knew nothing about stones/crystals, but knew I had to get it! My cousin and I then made it into a necklace. It’s my 1st and still favorite piece! Now it’s one of many that I seem to be collecting, thru this new journey I’m on.
Oh that is so so cool! Perfect example of how some crystals just call to us <3 Crystal blessings, Donna!
Hi Lauren,
I recently bought This Mexican crazy Lace Agate I felt an impulse to buying it without knowing what it was good for so when I received it then I researched it and I was so glad that I did and I learned it has different names like the Happy or Laughter stone and Its good to have it with you when you travel. It is good for healing many things. I love my Stone a lot I felt the happy energy it transmits!
Wow, that’s so wonderful Wanda! Crystal blessings!
I bought a house last year and when we pulled into the driveway here I noticed some beautiful rocks in the front garden and took that as a good sign. I bought the house and while working in the very overgrown gardens out back I found a couple of beautiful quartz crystals, 2 beautiful rose quartz and a gorgeous citrine geode, I have 2 of the 3 pieces of this, I never found the third piece. I brought them inside, cleaned and cleared them and enjoy them everyday. The house has a fabulous energy and I believe that these stones helped draw me here. What a pleasant surprise to know that a fellow crystal lover lived here and now I am able to share in the positive energy.
Hi Jo-Anne! Wow! Thank you for sharing such a wonderful story! Crystal blessings
I was shopping at a massage store and had already checked out and gotten my receipt. And then it caught my eye. The light on the shelf was even busted. Yet some stones caught my eye (amythyst , angelite, red jasper and rose quartz). I always liked amythyst so i picked it up and it was a giant piece (about 4 inches long and just shy of being an inch thick) it felt good in my hand but nothing special. Then i saw an unfamiliar piece that sparked something in me, red jasper. It made me feel flustered just holding it. i bought the piece for $20. i had thought i left it in my house when i went out but somehow it ended up in my jean pocket the rest of the day. BUT now its 1am and all i feel is agitated around the stone. and i keep having someones face pop into my head eachtime i think of the red jasper. i will try introducing this person to the stone tomorrow and see what happens
Wow, very interesting! Thanks for sharing <3 crystal blessings
I’ve been drawn to labradorite and flourite lately. It seems like I can’t get enough of either one of them. I’m starting to buy them in every shape I can find them in. I just love to stare into my labradorite sphere. I can get lost holding my flourite tower. I’m still looking for more.
Thanks so much for sharing Sharon! Crystal blessings
I was at a very large gem and crystal show not too long ago. At one vender I found a beautiful carnelian palm stone, it was very pretty but I wouldn’t say that I was drawn to it as I usually choose my crystals based on if I find them to be pretty (shallow, I know ?). I have only felt “drawn” to a very few crystals. However later in the day I was talking to another vendor that had tiny little gems that, as it turned out where WAY out of my price range, then on the other side of the table a small tumbled stone caught my eye. I asked to see it and when it landed in my palm I felt the most amazing energy! Of course I had to have it! I asked what kind of stone it was, to me it looked like an agate of some sort, he said it was carnelian! There is the smallest little spot of carnelian orange but also some dark browns and cream with little dots so not what you typically think of as carnelian. I love this little stone, it goes everywhere with me. Like you said earlier, it doesn’t have quite the same energy as it did the first time I held it but I still love it. It’s like an old friend even though I have had it less than a month! Thank you for the post!
Amethyst!!! Is amazing, I could never sit still and focus on my meditation, without my mind being all over the place. Grrrr lol. But the calmness and still mind that I get when holding this stone in my hands threw meditation, is so powerful. It has really helped me threw meditation and bring a lot to the surface.
love & light
Aw that is amazing to hear! Amethyst is truly an amazing crystal. 🙂 Crystal Blessings!
I was feeling like I needed to have astrophyllite in my life. I touched one during a reiki session for myself and asked about the crystal. After that I purchased one and find myself holding it frequently. I’m still not sure why… although it is a healing stone and works on a cellular level, and I’ve been having odd health issues… so maybe that’s why? It’s also very grounding and comforting… I wish I knew more about this crystal!!
Sometimes crystals call to us and we don’t fully know why in the moment – so way to trust your intuition. 🙂 I hope you get to know your crystal better and connect to it even more! If you’re curious about other people’s experience with that crystal, you could post about it in our Crystal Lovers Facebook group to see what other people in our crystal lovin’ community have to say! 🙂 Crystal Blessings <3
I have found that my energetic needs are always changing. There are times when I don’t feel drawn to a crystal friend and then times when I seem to fall in love with that same crystal all over again. So it’s rare for me to give away a crystal even if I don’t need it at the moment. I only give them away when I feel it’s time and when I feel that they want to go help someone else
I completely understand that! I admire your ability to trust your intuition like that! 🙂 Crystal Blessings
crystals and stones are constantly jumping into my hands, around my wrists or neck (beads), and also jumping out of my pocket and into other’s hands. the most recent jump i’ve experienced was with labradorite. i was in the tibetan store killing time one day and chatting with the jewelry maker (who, incidentally after the purchase of the labradorite beads refused to sell me anything else because i had spent so much money in so little time), when a set of prayer beads that had not been on the rack a few minutes prior when i scried, came directly into my hand. the jolt of clarity was immediate and even the jewelry maker knew that the beads were mine. he cleansed them and took my payment as i wrapped them around my wrist. i then floated out the store with a calm i had not felt in a long time, lighthearted, and enthusiastic for the future. later that day was day one of the crystal immersion challenge. lol
Hi Julia! Oh wow… what an incredible story. You painted the picture of your experience perfectly – I know that feeling well! I’m so glad you are so in touch with yourself and your crystals. 🙂 What divine timing – that that ended up being the first day of the crystal immersion challenge! Very beautiful – thank you so much for sharing. <3 Crystal Blessings!
I’m drawn to diff stones an crystals all the time my body tells me which one is good for the day to sleep with,to meditate with even to do class online. I use them for healing, pain I have spinal cord injury an 2 bad knees, pharmaceutical drugs don’t work for me either have bad reaction or just don’t work. Why I got into stones an crystals an learned Reiki.
Thanks for sharing with us! 🙂 It sounds like you have a really strong connection with crystals and your intuition. <3 Crystal Blessings!
I usually love opals due to the flecks of vibrant color. I went looking for more stones for my collection and was drawn to a Labradorite Pendant. I couldn’t leave it, the connection was too strong. I didn’t even know until I purchased it that it has the same flecks opals do. I never go anywhere without it.
Labradorite is one of my faves. 🙂 SUCH a beautiful and powerful crystal! You have great taste! Crystal Blessings
Hi I don’t know if I am supposed to say things or have to sign in for the blog anyhow here I am just to say a bit of my experiences. I have been a qualified healer for a long while and within the past five years I have been buying crystals and have not used them for healing but kept being drawn to them and just before I received an email from Ashley I just used the rose crystal with the healing which has helped calming someone who was constantly angry. Since reading all the information received from Ashley I have used the crystals all the time and some of the Crystals were chosen automatically and were arranged in a grid for me I did not even have to think about it. Now I am gaining a lot of informations from the crystals seems that I am well attuned to them so yes I am looking forward to enroll. Blessings to you all xxx
Hi Krishnawtee! Thank you so much for your kind words. 🙂 I’m so so happy to hear that you’ve been enjoying learning more about crystals and crystal healing! I can’t wait for classes to start – and I’m so excited that you’ll be joining us! Crystal Blessings 🙂
I once bought a labradorite ring because I thought it looked purple in the catalog photo. When I received it, it looked mostly grey. I was disappointed and have never cared for the stone since. Does it mean something about me that I don’t like this stone? I don’t Have it, I just sort of shrug it off
Hi Lissa, thank you for sharing your story. Could there be a possibility that your experience of being disappointed with your labradorite purchase impacted your desire to work with it? Sure, that could be a potential factor. Ultimately, trust how you feel on whether you want to use that stone or not. Choose to work with the stones that lift you up, and pass along those that don’t. If at some point you find a labradorite stone and are drawn to it, then it could be your time to work with it. Hope that helps! Crystal Blessings! <3
I am intensely drawn to Black Obsidian. When I see it it’s almost like I’m in a trance and I get this intense feeling in my palms almost like an itch that I have to scratch. I have the strongest urge to hold the stone. It’s a very powerful feeling that I’ve never felt before.
Hi Ashley! That’s amazing you feel it so intensely! Being drawn to a crystal is one thing, but really feeling it in such a definitive way is quite spectacular! <3 Crystal Blessings!
When I was struggling with finding myself in my late teens, I was extremely drawn to citrine. I assumed it was just because it was my birthstone, but I understand now that it was because I needed to build confidence and feel an easy flow of abundance and bright energy in my life during that rough patch. I still wear citrine, but now its more to accessorize than for its actual properties, because that phase of my life is over. I use carnelian more these days because it boosts my creative thinking for being an author. This episode was great! It made me realize that our relationships to our crystals are so complex!
Hi Velvet, I do find that we are often drawn to that which we need for energetic support, even though we might not be aware of it and how it might resonate with our needs at the time. That’s awesome you were able to reflect and bring it back to your experience, thank you for sharing! <3
