Connecting with the Past and Healing Your Ancestral Line with Lakelandite Crystals

Healing Properties of LakelanditeIt’s natural for us to think about our ancestors, to be curious about the parade of family members that walked before us. What were they like? Did they share or inspire the interests and passions that are so dear to us now? Do we have some healing work to do with those we have descended from? If you’d like to incorporate the healing energies of crystals to connect with and mend relationships with your ancestors, Lakelandite is a mineral friend that would really like to help.

Over the past few weeks, I have been working with some of my new crystal treasures from CrystalAge.com and one of the stones I am enjoying the most is Lakelandite.

Lakelandite is a combination of Black Basalt and Bytownite (also known as Golden Labradorite).  I have worked with each of these minerals separately, but I have never thought to use them in combination, so the idea of having them together in one stone was super intriguing.

Here are the write-ups I did on each of these minerals a few years ago:

BASALT: Use at the 1st Chakra (Root Chakra/Base Chakra) for grounding, to enhance vitality, for motivation (especially when beginning new projects or journeys), and to facilitate journey-work in order to heal trauma in one’s ancestral line that is continuing to cause present-life conflicts.

BYTOWNITE: (Also known as Golden Labradorite) Use at the 7th Chakra (Crown Chakra) to instill Divine wisdom, to connect with Angelic guides, to enhance meditation, for safety during astral travel and dream work, and to aid in reliving ascension symptoms.

Lakelandite had a very unique energy quality.  To me, it feels like this stone has a very ancient energy – I have been using it to connect with my ancestral line to learn more about my heritage and my family line.

I never knew my biological father growing up…and often thought I never would, but to make a long story short, we met for the first time two years ago. I didn’t know what to expect and had let go of all expectations.  I was surprised and delighted to meet him, his amazing wife, and my two adorable (and SUPER smart) half-brothers. Something just clicked inside, and although I never felt like I was missing anything, I felt that from our meeting, I had found a lost piece of myself.

I began learning as much as I could about my ancestry and my roots.  My mom was adopted and since I didn’t know my biological father, I never really knew anything about my heritage.  But meeting him and getting to know a little about my roots was an awesome experience.  I learned that I am Portuguese and that I can trace some of my family roots back to the 1400’s. Also that my paternal grandmother was an amazing intuitive palm reader (of sorts).

I learned that my life-long interest in nature and healing has roots that go deeper than just a hobby – those roots are ancestral.

Late summer has always been a special time for me…the time just before autumn arrives.  Fall is by far my favorite season, and living in the midwest (where we really get to experience the seasons), I always enjoy the activities that come with the arrival of the first cool autumn days.  Although those days are still a little while from now, I have started daydreaming about picking apples, visiting my favorite pumpkin farm, and…oh yes…eating a ridiculous amount of apple cider doughnuts.

But autumn is more than that…it’s a time to be thankful and show gratitude, particularly to your ancestors.  Working with the Lakelandite stone has, I feel, enhanced the desire to connect with those who have come before me…to understand them and the influence that their lives may have had on mine…and to honor them.

Lakalandite helps me feel connected to the earth, it helps me to feel grounded and in my center.

But, I can’t help thinking about its connection to water and the formation of our world.  It is a very emotional stone and family issues are often very emotionally charged.  This stone has been amazing for allowing me to explore the many feelings and thoughts connected to my familial discoveries while keeping me emotionally balanced and in my center.

It is a stone of healing, and of exploration, and deep compassion.  I am so grateful to have found its company during these last days of late summer, preparing for what autumn has to bring.

  1. Definitely “California Jade,” more correctly known as serpentine. My ancestors came from widely different places, but their paths all met at the Pacific coalst. No crazy stories or badass history with any of them, just souls meeting when the time and place was right.

    1. That’s an awesome ancestor stone Cathy! Jade also has roots in ancestor worship and is an awesome general healer – thanks so much for sharing! 🙂
